Sponsored Walk – George Malt

SPONSORED WALK – GEORGE MALT

ROKER to SOUTH SHIELDS

It is my intention to do a walk of approximately 8 miles from Roker Pier to South Shields Pier on Saturday 1st September 2018 in aid of the Durham 2021 Festival RMTGB Charity.

George Malt is a member of Lodge of Loyalty No. 8635 in the Province of Durham, and have been since March 1991. When he complete’s the walk George will be 77 years young.

George had a road accident as a child of 4, in 1945. After 3 years of surgery etc, his right leg was infected with gangrene, which required the amputation in April 1948.

It now happens to be 70 years since George acquired his first prosthetic limb. George is the oldest of 4 brothers, who have all been involved in sport, George played football and cricket at school, and he is proud to say that he has worked all his life up to retirement age 12 years ago.

I thought it might be a good idea to attempt to walk from Roker to South Shields, a distance of between 7 and 8 miles, and incorporate fundraising for the Durham 2021 Festival.

George is a well known Freemason in and around the Sunderland area and in Provincial Office

Eardulph Lodge No. 6645 – Gold Presentation

EARDULPH LODGE No. 6645 – Achieve Gold Award

At the recent meeting of Eardulph Lodge No. 6645 in Chester le Street, the Eardulph brethren welcomed the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Simon Craig Steele, to its May 2018 meeting.

After witnessing an excellent Third Degree Ceremony, carried out by the Past Masters of the Lodge, Craig then had the great pleasure in presenting the Lodge with its Gold Durham 2021 Festival Award.

Eardulph Lodge join the other 22 Lodges in the Province who have attained the Durham 2021 Festival Gold Award.  Craig praised the Lodge members for the fantastic achievement, before presenting Steven Piercy, the Worshipful Master of the Lodge, with a framed Gold Durham 2021 Festival Certificate in acknowledgement of the Lodge achieving 100% of its Festival Target.

Craig congratulated the Lodge for achieving the Gold award in only two and a half years and then presented Stephen Willis, the Lodge’s Charity Steward, with a Durham 2021 Festival Gold Pin Badge, which can be worn throughout the Festival period until 2021.

This was a proud evening for Stephen Willis this being his first Lodge meeting, since receiving his Grand Rank appointment, at the Annual Investiture Meeting of the United Grand Lodge of England on 25th April 2018.
